Fat Tuesday is finally here! While the big celebration is in New Orleans, Jacksonville did a pretty good job of celebrating Mardi Gras style this year with several parties and events this past week. There is even a party tonight at A Loft in Tapestry Park for those who are still adding to their bead collections.
We’ve had a few people in the shop getting stuff for the real Mardi Gras, so I hope they send us some pictures! This year we had bustles, wigs, hats and lots of masks ready. Our outfits in the photos with this post show a lot of the fun stuff in the shop and how it can be put together.
I’ve only been once to the big party in New Orleans, and it was insanely packed and crazy. I can’t even imagine trying to navigate that crowd in a costume. Granted, I was trying to make my way through the thick of it on Bourbon St. most of the time. This was about 15 years ago though. I wonder how much has changed? My favorite parade was Endymion. I still have my beads! I keep planning to eventually use them for a costume.
Hope everyone has a fabulous Tuesday and if you are Catholic, good luck with whatever you give up for Lent this year. let’s hope it’s not corsets 😉
